Games for MAXIK

Every game here has two links: Play runs it in the browser, Code opens it in the workshop — the full source you can read, change and run again. On the console they play from the SD card, on a TV, controller in hand.

Boulder Dash

8 caves, falling boulders, diamonds and fireflies. The screen itself is the physics state of the world.

Manic Miner

A platformer with a fixed jump arc, crumbling bridges and conveyor belts. 8 rooms.

Bomberman

Two players head to head on one screen — bombs, flames and power-ups. Best on two gamepads.

Sopwith

A biplane, AI dogfights and a world scrolling both ways. Player and enemy share the same physics.

Arkanoid

A full rebuild of the classic: 8 rounds, falling capsules, multiball and a laser. There's a whole book about it.

Turbo Run

A top-down racer: gas, brake, curves, traffic and puddles on a full-color bitmap.

Space Invaders

The classic of classics — waves of invaders, shields and an accelerating enemy pulse.

Cave Runner

A scrolling cave with a tracker soundtrack that speeds up as the cave narrows.

Lunar Lander

Touch down softly or burn beautifully. Fuel, gravity and nerves.

Pong

Where else to start. Two paddles, one ball, zero mercy.

Aurora

A demo, not a game: copper bars, plasma, a sine scroller and a three-voice tune. What the machine can do.

SAP-DOOM

A textured raycaster on an 8-bit machine — around 30 frames per second on the console. in the works

In the browser the games run on a 2 MHz emulator — the full 25.2 MHz experience lives on the console. And your own game starts in the workshop.
